One recording, six clips: our podcast workflow
Ava Collins7 min read
How a two-hour conversation becomes six vertical clips by the next morning.

We start from the transcript, never from the timeline. A two-hour conversation holds six to ten moments that stand on their own, and reading finds them faster than scrubbing.
Find the moment
A clip needs a question, an answer and a reason to care, inside sixty seconds. We mark every passage that has all three, then keep the six with the strongest first sentence.
- A claim that surprises
- A story with a clear turn
- A piece of advice someone can use the same day
Frame the speaker
We reframe to whoever is talking and cut on the change of voice. When two people overlap, the wide shot holds until one of them finishes.
Caption every word
Podcast clips are watched muted more often than any other format. Captions are timed to the word and corrected by hand, with names and technical terms checked against the show notes.
The first line of the clip is the title of the clip. If it does not work as a title, it is the wrong first line.
Deliver before the episode
The clips are in the shared folder the morning after recording, sized for every platform, so the show can post them in the days before the full episode goes out. The episode then arrives to an audience that has already heard its best minute.
