The short version

Roughcut collects what it needs to answer you, edit your videos and send an invoice, and nothing more. We never sell, rent or swap client data, and we do not use your footage for anything except your project. You can ask to see, correct or delete your data at any time by writing to hello@roughcut.studio.

What we collect

  • Contact details: your name, email, channel or company name, and the details you put in a project brief.
  • Footage and files: the raw footage, audio, logos, fonts and scripts you share with us, usually as a link to your own cloud folder.
  • Project records: briefs, review notes, delivery dates and the files we hand back.
  • Billing details: your billing name and address and what you paid. Card numbers are handled by the payment provider and never reach us.
  • Website data: pages visited and the browser used, through privacy-friendly analytics.

How we use it

  • To do the work: cut, caption, grade and deliver the videos you ordered.
  • To talk to you: answer a brief, send review links and tell you when a delivery is ready.
  • To run the business: invoices, bookkeeping and the records the law asks us to keep.
  • To tell you what matters: changes to a plan or to these pages, and studio notes only if you asked for them. Every newsletter has a one-click unsubscribe.

Your footage stays yours

Raw footage and finished edits belong to you. Editors work on them only for your project. We do not post, sell or train anything on your footage, and we show a finished video as a sample only when you have said yes in writing.

We never share your unreleased footage, your numbers or your upload calendar with anyone outside your project.

Who sees your files

The editors assigned to your project, the lead who reviews the cut, and the storage, review and payment tools that work on our instructions. Freelance editors sign a confidentiality agreement before they open a folder.

How long we keep it

Project files are kept for 90 days after delivery so we can make changes, then deleted from our storage unless you ask us to archive them. Invoices are kept for as long as tax law asks. Brief forms and emails are deleted after two years.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete what we are not required to keep, and object to any use you did not expect. Write to hello@roughcut.studio and we will answer within 30 days. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will say so on this page and by email before the change takes effect.
